PERFOMANCE SCORE
How did the iSense Hybrid Premier Mattress Perform?
Based on user reviews and trusted review sites.
Performance Score: 6.9/10
1. Comfort & Overall Support (Score: 7.6/10)
The iSense Hybrid Premier features dual-zone Comfort Control Technology with 14 air cylinders per side, offering 40 firmness settings for tailored support. This allows couples to customize each side independently, promoting spinal alignment for medium-firm to extra-firm preferences.
The pocketed coils enhance durability for heavier sleepers. Users praise the sturdy support, but some find the setup process, including pump connection and app pairing, time-consuming, often requiring 30-60 minutes.
2. Firmness & Pressure Relief (Score: 9.6/10)
Ranging from medium (4-5) to extra-firm (9.5 on a 1-10 scale), the Hybrid Premier caters to those preferring firmer beds. High-density foams, air cylinders, and coils provide robust support, ideal for back and stomach sleepers, but pressure relief may be insufficient for side sleepers with chronic pain, as the softest settings feel medium. Some users report needing multiple adjustments to find their ideal setting, with occasional app lag.
3. Sleeping Position Compatibility (Score: 8.0/10)
The adjustable firmness suits combination sleepers, with firmer settings supporting stomach and back sleepers and medium settings accommodating side sleepers to a degree. The coils add bounce, benefiting heavier sleepers. Lightweight side sleepers may find the softest settings too firm, potentially causing discomfort at pressure points like hips and shoulders.
4. Edge Support (Score: 7.8/10)
Notched wrapped rail construction provides above-average edge support, ensuring stability when sitting or lying near the edge. Users report minimal sinking, though it doesn’t match traditional innerspring beds. The coils enhance edge durability, but heavy edge-sitting may cause minimal compression over time.
5. Cooling (Score: 7.4/10)
Graphite-infused Energex foam, pocketed coils, and a breathable cover promote airflow, offering superior heat dissipation for hot sleepers. While not as effective as copper-infused competitors like the Rejuvenate [insert hyperlink to review], most users report comfortable temperature regulation, though thick bedding can reduce breathability.
6. Eco-Friendly & Off-Gassing (Score: 7.0/10)
CertiPUR-US certified foams ensure low-VOC materials, minimizing environmental impact, though these are bare minimum certifications. Most users report mild off-gassing that dissipates within 24-48 hours in a ventilated space. The non-removable cover requires spot cleaning and a mattress protector for hygiene. A few sensitive users note a persistent and intense “new bed smell,” but this is rare.
7. Motion Transfer & Motion Isolation (Score: 7.0/10)
Independent air cylinders, foam layers, and pocketed coils reduce motion transfer, making it suitable for light sleepers. However, some users report feeling partner movements, and occasional pump noise during adjustments can be noticeable. Motion isolation is slightly less effective than that of competitors, and periodic recalibration of the air chambers will be necessary, particularly through weight loss or gain.
8. Warranty (Score: 7.2/10)
The 10-year limited warranty covers mattress defects (sags ≥0.75 inches, material flaws), with a 3-year warranty for electrical components (prorated up to 10 years). This is competitive but shorter than rivals’ 15-25-year terms. Users appreciate straightforward claims but note the need for proper base use to avoid voiding coverage. Understanding the iSense warranty before purchase is strongly recommended, as some long-term owners have expressed dismay at durability issues, requiring extensive knowledge of how to file a claim to replace parts like the air chambers.
9. Sleep Trial (Score: 7.2/10)
The 180-night trial (45-night minimum) surpasses competitors’ 100-120 nights, offering ample time to test firmness settings. Free shipping and returns ease the process, though coordinating pickup can be inconvenient. Users value the extended trial but note that the adjustment period may delay returns.
10. Customer & Trusted Ratings (Score: 7.0/10)
Aggregated reviews from myisense.com and slumbersearch.com show mixed feedback. Many praise the customizable firmness and pain relief for back/lumbar issues, with couples valuing dual-zone controls. Complaints include excessive firmness, unreliable app connectivity, and occasional durability issues with air chambers or edge support. Customer service is generally responsive, though some cite delays or rejected returns before the 45-day minimum, as one Reddit user noted after issues with initial chemical odor.
A CLOSER LOOK
A Closer Look at iSense Hybrid Premier Materials
Top Cover
Breathable, stretchy fabric (non-removable, spot-clean only) promotes airflow and conforms to firmness adjustments. This cover is designed to enhance breathability, allowing heat to dissipate for a cooler sleep surface. Its stretchy nature ensures it adapts seamlessly to the mattress’s adjustable firmness settings without restricting movement. Users appreciate its soft texture, though a mattress protector is recommended to maintain hygiene due to its non-removable design.
Comfort Layer
Graphite-infused Energex foam over ThermaPhaseGel foam enhances cooling, with VeriFoam and 14 air cylinders for 40 firmness settings via remote or app. The graphite infusion actively draws heat away from the body, improving temperature regulation for hot sleepers. ThermaPhaseGel foam provides adaptive pressure relief, contouring to the body’s shape, while the VeriFoam’s air cylinders allow precise firmness adjustments for personalized comfort. This combination ensures a responsive yet supportive feel, ideal for couples with differing preferences.
Support Layer
Pocketed coils reduce motion transfer and add bounce, supported by a thin foam base housing the air pump. These individually wrapped, heat-treated coils provide targeted support, minimizing partner disturbance during movement. The high-density foam base provides structural integrity, ensuring long-term durability, while the integrated air pump enables seamless adjustments to firmness. This layer’s hybrid design balances traditional innerspring responsiveness with modern adjustability.
Base Layer & Edge Support
Notched wrapped rail construction protects electrical components and ensures solid perimeter stability. This reinforced foam edge prevents sagging, offering reliable support when sitting or sleeping near the mattress’s edge. The design also safeguards the air cylinders and pump, maintaining functionality over time. Users find it outperforms typical foam mattresses, though heavy edge use may cause compression.
PROS & CONS
Based on user reviews and feedback, these are the Pros & Cons of iSense Hybrid Premier Mattress:
PROS
- Customizable Firmness: 40 settings per side allow precise adjustments, ideal for couples with differing preferences, though app connectivity can be inconsistent. This extensive range enables each partner to fine-tune their side for optimal spinal alignment and comfort. The handheld remote or app simplifies adjustments, making it easy to adapt to changing sleep needs. Couples especially value the dual-zone design for minimizing compromise in shared beds.
- Strong Support for Heavier Sleepers: Coils and high-density foams provide robust support for those over 200 lbs, promoting spinal alignment. The pocketed coils add durability and bounce, ideal for heavier individuals needing stable, long-lasting support. This makes the Hybrid Premier a top choice for back and stomach sleepers seeking firm foundations. Users report reduced back pain and improved sleep quality due to the mattress’s sturdy construction, though periodic adjustments may be required.
- Effective Cooling: Graphite-infused foam and pocketed coils offer solid heat dissipation, comfortable for most hot sleepers. The open-cell foam structure and breathable cover enhance airflow, preventing heat buildup during the night. While not as advanced as copper-infused rivals, it maintains a neutral sleep surface in most conditions. Hot sleepers appreciate the consistent cooling, especially in warmer climates.
- Solid Edge Support: Notched rail design outperforms typical foam mattresses, ensuring stability for edge-sitting or sleeping. This feature provides confidence when using the bed’s full surface, ideal for couples maximizing space. The reinforced edges also protect internal components, enhancing longevity. Users note minimal sinking, making it easier to get in and out of bed compared to standard foam mattresses.
CONS
- Limited Pressure Relief: Medium to extra-firm range may be too hard for lightweight side sleepers or those with chronic pain, lacking plush options. The softest settings still feel medium, which can cause discomfort at pressure points like hips and shoulders for some users. This makes the mattress less ideal for those needing softer, more cushioning support. Side sleepers with joint pain may need to explore alternatives for better pressure relief.
- Complex Setup Requires Extra Time: Pump connection, power source setup, and app pairing can take 30-60 minutes, challenging for less tech-savvy users. The process involves unboxing a heavy compressed mattress, connecting electrical components, and ensuring a strong Wi-Fi signal for app functionality. Some users report frustration with unclear instructions, requiring extra time or assistance. Clear setup guides or professional assistance can mitigate this issue.
- Pricey for Budget Buyers: At $2,399-$4,798, it’s a significant investment, less affordable than budget options. The advanced technology and hybrid construction justify the cost for some, but it may strain budgets compared to non-adjustable mattresses. Buyers must weigh the long-term benefits of customization against the upfront expense. Optional add-ons like adjustable bases further increase costs, potentially deterring cost-conscious shoppers.
- Mixed Durability Feedback: Some report air chamber or edge support issues, and compressed delivery may impact lifespan. A few users note air cylinder malfunctions or edge compression after extended use, raising concerns about long-term reliability. The compressed shipping method, while convenient, may stress materials, potentially reducing durability. Thorough testing during the trial period is recommended to ensure longevity. A user on Reddit expressed dismay at the lack of durability, citing that the air chambers weakened after just two years of ownership.
FINAL SLEEP RATING ANALYSIS
Our Analysis
Founded in 2017 by industry veteran Paul Longman, iSense delivers the direct-to-consumer Hybrid Premier ($2,399-$4,798), a customizable mattress designed for couples and firm-bed enthusiasts. With 40 firmness settings per side, it surpasses Sleep Number’s 20 settings and rivals Saatva Solaire’s 50, offering tailored comfort at a lower cost than Tempur-Pedic’s $10,000 models. Graphite-infused foam and coils ensure cooling and durability, ideal for heavier sleepers.
However, the firm range (4-9.5) limits appeal for those needing softer beds, and pressure relief falls short for chronic pain sufferers compared to Tempur-Pedic. App bugs and setup complexity may frustrate some, while durability concerns (e.g., air chambers) suggest testing during the 180-night trial, which outshines Sleep Number’s 100 nights and Rejuvenate’s 120 nights. The 10-year warranty (3 years for electrical components) is solid but trails Saatva’s lifetime or Sleep Number’s 15-year terms. Compared to the Rejuvenate’s superior cooling and motion isolation, the Hybrid Premier lags slightly but offers strong value. Customer feedback praises the support and customization, but notes inconsistent service and issues with firmness.
Customer Insights
Users celebrate the iSense Hybrid Premier’s ability to reduce back and lumbar pain through customizable firmness, with couples valuing independent settings for undisturbed sleep. Its cooling earns praise for hot sleepers, and edge support satisfies most. However, some report excessive firmness, rapid durability decay of specific parts, app connectivity issues, or motion transfer. Customer service is generally responsive, although a few users cite delays or rejected returns before the 45-day minimum, as one Reddit user noted after experiencing issues with the initial chemical odor. Replacements are typically handled efficiently.
Final Verdict: 3.8/5
A Firm, Customizable Choice for Couples With Distinct Needs
The iSense Hybrid Premier Mattress shines for tech-savvy couples and heavier sleepers seeking a firm, adjustable bed with effective cooling and robust support. Its 40-setting dual-zone technology rivals Sleep Number at a competitive price. However, limited pressure relief, setup complexity, and mixed durability feedback may deter lightweight sleepers or those needing plush beds. Backed by a generous 180-night trial and 10-year warranty, the Hybrid Premier is a solid pick for firm-mattress fans but requires careful testing to ensure it meets specific needs.

PRODUCT WARRANTY & VALUE
iSense Mattress Warranty
Original purchasers of an iSense mattress can utilize a 10-Year Limited warranty offered by the company, which warrants against defects in faulty (non-electrical) workmanship and/or bedding material as long as you’re using your iSense normally. If iSense determines your claim valid, they’ll cover any repairs or replacement parts at no cost with no shipping fees.
However, you may be required to provide a refundable deposit depending on the type of material, which will be refunded within 30 days upon receiving the replacement.
Be sure to read the terms and conditions before the purchase of any mattress, and keep any receipts and records of purchase in a safe place at home. You’ll need proof of original purchase to be eligible to make a warranty claim through iSense’s Customer Service.
What iSense Warranty Covers
Sags or indentations at three-quarters (0.75) of an inch, despite normal use and proper handling, are covered. Any physical flaws that cause the material to split or crack, again, despite normal use, are covered. The limited warranty is valid only for the original purchaser from the date of the original purchase.
What iSense Warranty Doesn’t Cover
All other components of the iSense beds, including the pump and controls, are covered under a different 3-year limited warranty, after which the electrical components will be prorated up to 10 years from the original purchase date. If you’re found using a base iSense disapproves of, they reserve the right to void your warranty. Damage from abuse, mishandling, and neglect in any way isn’t covered, and neither are acts of God such as fire, flooding, lightning, or electrical damage.
Value Comparison
The iSense Hybrid Premier Mattress, priced at $2,399-$4,798, offers a budget-friendly alternative to premium smart beds like Sleep Number’s i8 ($2,999-$9,999) and Tempur-Pedic’s TEMPUR-ActiveBreeze ($10,000 for a queen), delivering comparable customization at a lower cost. It’s 40 firmness settings per side outmatch Sleep Number’s 20 and closely rival Saatva Solaire’s 50, making it a standout for couples seeking personalized comfort.
Graphite-infused foam and pocketed coils provide solid cooling and support, holding its own against the Rejuvenate Smart Bed’s ($2,799-$9,369) copper-infused design. While its app supports sleep tracking, it lacks the sophisticated integrations of Tempur-Pedic or Sleep Number’s SleepIQ, focusing instead on practical adjustability. The 180-night trial exceeds Sleep Number’s 100 nights and Rejuvenate’s 120 nights, offering ample testing time, and the 10-year warranty (3 years for electrical components) is reliable, though shorter than Saatva’s lifetime or Sleep Number’s 15-year coverage. For firm-bed lovers and cost-conscious couples, the Hybrid Premier delivers robust value, though side sleepers needing softer support may prefer alternatives like the Rejuvenate.
